What is Ogham?
Ogham (og·am, og-uhm, aw-guhm) also known as The Alphabet of Trees, is an ancient written language that was used in Ireland and parts of the UK between the 5th and 9th centuries. The Ogham alphabet is the earliest known form of writing in Ireland and is seen as the first intellectual creation of Irish-speaking people. While the Ogham alphabet is seldom used today, it remains an enduring part of Irish culture and heritage.
Each Ogham piece is lovingly crafted by hand just for you and is 100% personalised. At the checkout enter the details of the names and dates you would like to be inscribed in your piece.
Helen uses Monumental Ogham, the oldest form of ogham, when inscribing names. This alphabet contains twenty characters. Monumental Ogham is written vertically and reads from bottom to top. This Alphabet has been adapted to represent all twenty six letters of the modern Alphabet.
